Lyndsay Russell
I live and work aboard a houseboat on the River Thames, where the shifting elements—wind, water, air, and fire—shape my practice. The flow of water and wildlife are integral to my work, and I often incorporate actual river water into my pieces.
Currently, I’m merging my painting, sculpture and photography to create a trompe l’œil illusion of real silk on canvas, inviting you to see these sails and veils as portals to another realm. Hidden dimensions and surreal lands often drive my direction, with spiritual symbolism sometimes playing a subtle part.
