Anika de Souza

I work with layered washes of acrylic and ink, building surfaces through mark-making that holds both discipline and instinct in tension. Central to my practice is language as material — traces of writing embedded within the layers, moving between something almost readable and pure mark. The empty areas are as important as the marks themselves, each needing the other to exist.
